AKHS Band Wish List
Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools, unfortunately, is only able to provide limited financial support to the many HS Band programs in its very large school district. As a new school, we were allocated an initial inventory that only covered approximately 60% of the items and materials that were needed to open the school. Furthermore, we were given a start-up budget of $0 to purchase the remaining necessary items. In order for us to create a state-of-the-art, high level Band program at Ardrey Kell HS that is reflective of the Ballantyne community, we are truly in need of corporate assistance in purchasing the following items:

- Parade Banner - $1,000 – to be in front of our marching band at parades / performances
- SuperScope CD Recorder with mics and recording software - $2,000 – necessary to be able to record the band during rehearsals so the students can instantly assess their performance and get the correct feedback
Items 1-16 below are instruments that a standard band program should be provided to start with but were either not provided or not enough were ordered by CMS to our inventory for the opening of the school:

- Fender Passport PD150 Portable PA System - $700 - for use when jazz band or smaller ensembles perform outside and need to be amplified and/or mixed
- Pyware 3D Java drill writing program - $700 – complete software for writing and designing marching band drill formations and shows
- Music Software (student programs) - $1,500 – to give the students exposure to the latest music technology
Auditorium
- Digital recording package - $3,000 – to give us the ability to record our concerts and performances and make music CD’s to promote our school and for our students and parents
- Wenger Legacy Acoustical Shells - $20,000 – state of the art acoustical shells that enhances both the student musicians hear as well as the sound projected to the audience (these are the ones used at most professional auditoriums in the US)
